Creepy Halloween treat! These Corpse Finger Cookies are a perfect addition to your Halloween party! Creep your guests out with these Halloween cookies! Every Halloween my kids and I make these Finger Cookies. It’s a super easy recipe and there are lots of fun ways you can embellish them if you’d like.
Now, I’m the first person to admit that these are not healthy cookies, but we only these special Halloween cookies once a year.
Halloween Corpse Finger Cookies
1 cup butter
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
package of sliced almonds (the sliced part is really important!)
In a mixing bowl beat butter with an electric mixer for 30 seconds. Add about half of the flour, all the sugar, vanilla, and 1 tablespoon of water. Beat until thoroughly combined. Add the remaining flour and mix until you can form it into a ball.
Shape the cookies. You can play with this part – I usually try to keep the fingers a realistic size, you can use your own finger as a model you can even make toes. Use a butter knife to make the creases on the knuckles and make sure to make a nail bed at one end. Jam an almond slice into the “nail bed” of all the cookies.
Bake the cookies on an ungreased cookie sheet at 325 for about 20 minutes or until the bottoms are lightly browned. You don’t want the tops to brown at all so keep an eye on them!
Let them cool and then you can display them. I’ve dipped the ends into raspberry jam and plated them, my cousin likes to add a little bit of green food coloring under the nails. You could easily color the dough a light green and “paint” the almonds with red food coloring and call them “Witch Fingers” too! Be creative and don’t worry about them looking perfect, gnarled and twisted fingers are great too! This is a fun cookie to make with the kids.
